Can I get Cancer from Cosmetics, Lip Balm, or Chocolate? Contamination with Mineral Oil

Can I get Cancer from Cosmetics, Lip Balm, or Chocolate? Contamination with Mineral Oil: Here are two important articles describing how recent research in Germany has uncovered the presence of some very unpleasant chemicals in products we eat and place on our faces. Having spent most of my career running chemical businesses I am very much aware of the almost obsessive amount of attention we paid to avoiding contamination of our products either in the manufacturing process or during storage and transportation. All of the principles described on my RiskTuition.com site were applied to identifying the risks of contamination and then dealing with them.

It was therefore with some concern that I recently discovered that there are cases in the cosmetics and food processing industries where contamination is clearly taking place. What’s worse was that this contamination was with potential cancer causing chemicals that are derived from mineral oil (the stuff we normally put into our cars). These contaminants are actually a mixture of very unhealthy chemicals known as Mineral Oil Aromatic Hydrocarbons (MOAHs) which are considered to be potentially carcinogenic.

I have written two articles explaining more about how this contamination was uncovered by well respected independent German authorities and describing more about these cancer causing agents and the products they were found in. The articles also highlight the names of some very well known cosmetics and chocolate products which were published by the researchers (International brands). I think there are some areas in these cosmetics and food processing industries where the management needs to take a look at its own Risk Tuition process and overhaul those parts of the system which are clearly not working effectively.
